If it's too tight, get bigger sizes, why do you think it's unflattering? I wear lycra for comfort and sometimes because it's more useful a garment, i couldn't give a rats what other people think I look like.
That said, I often wear plain cycle jerseys with not much in the way of advertising, the most lettering I have on a jersey is the ones I had made in my rugby clubs traditional colours and had their name put on the back. On the bottom walking shorts over cycle shorts works for me if I'm not out on 'fast' ride, so for touring, going to shops/utility rides I'll likely be wearing them but in really colder months I simply don a pair of lycra leggings or the thermal bibs, because it's more practical and protecting from the conditions than ordinary garments.

An alternate to cycling shorts is padded undercrackers, with walking shorts they can work a treat, buying relaxed sized cycling jerseys is not expensive, I wear my polaris jerseys a lot, and as I'm car free it really doesn't bother me to turn up in lycra round friends and not feel the need to change into anything. I just try not to hammer it going so that I don't arrive sweating, but then the lycra helps regards that in the first instance.

I also have some karrimor wicking t-shirts that I might wear but I like the pockets on a cycling jersey so they're high summer time non cycling wear, my jacket also has a casual look to it so I wear that out quite a bit when not cycling, great fit, water resistant and high neck zip so brilliant for poor weather conditions and it's much lighter than my other inclement weather non cycling jackets.

Circa 1955 wrote:Again thanks for the replies, I shall have a look at the running bottoms in town today, I sent a message to Spar Cycles, I am a odd size so I think they have to be made. Strange as tops are no issue just short legs are the problem, better today with frames as a 19.5 inch frame years ago where difficult to find so had 20.5 inch with 3 inches of seat pin. Now my bikes full of dust have ample seat pin , looking forward to riding again in the near future, any one from Bedford area to go out for a short ride for a bit of help.

Thanks Bob

When I sold Tudor Sport clothing in the 80s and 90s the gentleman who owned and ran the business in Birmingham used to do his own repping. He certainly wasn't a salesman but he clearly genuinely enjoyed contact with his clients. I remember early on raising with him the only problem that I had with his leggings. Being just over 6' and slim (like most 6' cyclists) i found the medium size too short in the leg but the large size too big in the waist. "No problem" he says, "just order medium +2", which is what I did and in fact always had a stock in that size as it proved to be very popular. Each pair came with the usual Medium label with +2" added in biro. This was clearly a great example of good customer service from a specialist British manufacturer. So all that is to say that if you think you might need a non-standard size, well don't hesitate to ask.

I similarly have fairly long legs which make the medium size tights far too short. I believe I tried to enquire as to custom made options a while back (several years) but received no positive outcome.

Ive tried to contact Tudor sport by e-mail and web site message but no response at all so why advertise when your not interested in a order.

Me again, tried to phone Tudor sport, nobody there just a recorded message to leave your number for a call back. I would not be to pleased if I had made a order which would of been a few hundred pounds and could not contact the company, very poor customer service. Looks like Ive got to dig out the tight fitting lycra and get arrested for indecent exposure when shopping in town.

I ordered a pair of Tudor Sports tights last year, a special order on their website as non standard size. They arrived in less time than quoted on their website and the customer service was very good. The tights are comfortable and a perfect fit too, well worth the small extra cost.

I have had a call from Tudor sport this morning, sorry if I rubbished the company by a non replies to my messages, they where in my spam folder. I spoke to Bob at Tudor sport and a pair of tights are going to be made for me. I'm very pleased that I'm not about to be arrested with my lycra on and looking forward to getting back on my bike which has been a very long time, many thanks for the input on this thread.

Very pleased to hear that the new owners (1993 on!) are giving the same quality of service.

Not been available for a number of years.
Which is a shame as my pair have worn out and I'd have liked to replace them. There was something a bit similar from Polaris, but they also seem to have been discontinued.
