Thanks brucey.
I've brought a set of plastic adaptors for the time being. (Double sided spds on at the moment.)
If I don't get on with then I can always swap to a Shimano spd pedals.
Cheers James
Combined spd pedals.
Re: Combined spd pedals.
I've got both pd-a530 and pd-eh500 on different bikes. The eh500 flat side with pins are a definite improvement over the older pedals.

I have this set up on my Moulton. 99% of the time I ride it with spd shoes but the adaptors give the option to hop in any footwear and a set of reflectors.

Re: Combined spd pedals.
I rode with the reflectors in a set of M540s for years, just to be legal at night. They were less convenient for clipping in, of course, but worked ok.
One got ripped off in a head-on collision with a dozy cyclist on a psyclepath (head down, looked up and swerved straight at me) and I never bought replacements.

Re: Combined spd pedals.
The problem with many of these pedals is that they use a bushing instead of ball bearings. That's why I use Shimano pedals. Never had a problem with the bearings other than adjustment for play.
