Replacement for Bosch Powerpack battery

Since Bosch Powerpack batteries cost an arm and a leg, does anyone know if generic / 3rd party replacements are available? I see Greencell and Hailong batteries on Amazon & ebay but I don't know if they are compatible.

As a keen photographer I know there are any number of replacement camera batteries available on ebay at a fraction of OEM prices. Does the same apply to ebikes.

No third party replacements, they use proprietary interface to the battery, and (as far as I know) nobody has broken the code.
You may be able to get it recelled as long as it is still working.

the usual route is to get the original battery pack rebuilt. That way you are not buying all the proprietary parts (casing, electronics etc) a second time when the cells clap out.

Most e-bike battery packs contain lots of electronics and this adds appreciably to the cost and complexity of manufacture.

I've used specialist battery rebuilders, for odd ball packs.
Getting glued and spot welded packs apart takes interesting tooling.

one of my chums has just bought a spot welder specifically so that he can rebuild battery packs to a good standard.

Thank you for responding but you have assumed that my battery is knackered. It isn't, in fact after a full charge today, my battery which has assisted me for 2000miles, is 2 yrs old s and has had approx 33nr full recharges. It is currently showing a range of 97 miles in eco mode, which is farcical, but if I undertake the 40 mile route I have in mind, I'd probably just about do it with very little power left due to the terrain.

I'm not looking to replace my existing battery, I want to augment it! In any event as I understand it the Bosch Powerpacks can't be rebuilt

Most Bosch batteries can be recelled. It requires knowledge and skill (I don't have either); and it is particularly important not to lose power to the BMS during the recell process. But of course that won't help people who want two batteries and to pay a reasonable price for the second. Less proprietary systems is the only answer to that.

It's looking like I'll have to shell out for a new battery then, or buy a second hand one from a reliable source. Since the bike is relatively new, in mint condition, a top end spec and is now tweaked and adjusted to my liking I shall probably go down the new route, I can pick up a 500W one for around £490 and when combined with my current 400 Watt one it will give me a range, in hilly country, of around 90-100miles. Way more than enough.

Re- celling of bosch or any other CANbus type is only poss if the BMS is functional and the battery charges, the BMS during re- celling is kept live to prevent it bricking rendering the battery useless. Bosch and the others etc are expensive to replace or to buy another.

I personally stick to diy builds which can use any generic type battery but for the last 4 years simply spot weld my own batteries up using the better choice of loose cells available from LGm HG2, MJ1 or M36. The newer Samsung 50e a 21700 cell is pretty damn good.

My experience of Bosch batteries, either in drills, hedge trimmers or ebikes is that ownership is a lottery. All the batteries fitted to the aforementioned have suffered premature failure. Chinese knock-offs to replace power tool packs have lasted twice as long. My ebike battery bricked after 3,800 miles and under 3 years. As replacement cost £550, it would have been cheaper to have covered the same distance in the car!
Has anyone out there had experience of other system’s longevity? My problem seems to have been the BMS, but it’s still toast. If anyone needs my old unit free for spares ( I think cells are ok) I only need the cost of postage.

Posting a battery as an end user is a can of worms even Bosch won't accept them back unless by an authorised process.
Pick up locally is best, where are you located ?
The cells used inside will be no different to others available but will be a genuine top six branded cell.
