E bikes on Bridal Paths

I recently saw a newly married couple riding an electric tandem on a by-way.The long rake near Youlgreave.Should such assisted riders share access to such routes.These are already churned up by horses without a fat couple on a bike weighing 60kg churning ever deeper gauges and gorges.If ever there was a case for lightweight cycling....

What difference does it being an ebike make?

So why is the ebike part relevant? A tandem with two people on it is hardly impacted by another 4kg.

If it's too heavy then it's too heavy because it's a tandem, so the real question is "should tandems be banned from bridal paths".
Which leads to "should fully laden tourers be banned from bridal paths" etc etc

I don't think we count as newly married (42 years), but we regularly ride our electrified tandem on bridleways. We very rarely do it when it might churn things up, partly for the sake of others to save the churn. Partly selfishly; Marathon Plus are good at lots of things but loose mud is not one of them; and jammed mudguards aren't much fun either. So very little bridleway riding in late autumn, winter, early spring.

Horses are the real problem, but I don't think they should be banned from the rights originally set up for them. Maybe we should ban bikes with tyres under 30mm?

The paths were created for equine use when horses were performing an economic function.Today mosr riders are nicely spoken women escaping a humdrum life in the suburbs.We shouls allow horses if not ridden ie pack animals,or draught,when windy.Also we need too muddy signs erected in winter,or use tarmac

Is it only tandem riders or does the prejudice extend to old married for a long time E solo riders too?

My initial thought to Mumbojumbo's post was.......

Were the newly weds on this E tandem wearing multiple layers of clothes?
Sitting upright like Father Brown?
And betraying a look of indolence?
A fat couple? Hmmmm???

Strangely enough on my 2018 trip to Austria on the side of the Wolfgangsee I too came across a newly married couple on a 'bridle' path ( perhaps 'bridal' in this case?). Maybe their E tandem was hidden in the trees???
I was on my Ridgeback touring bike then wishing many times during the trip that I had an Ebike. I have one now.

I would assume possibly wrongly that just like a light woman wearing stiletto shows is more damaging to surfaces than a heavy man wearing sneakers I would think thinner tyres apply more weight to a surface than thicker tyres. So probably a cruising bike with thicker tyres is less damaging than a gravel bike with thin tyres. A bit like a fat bike which can ride on loose surfaces like sand where as a road bike would churn up that sand and not be able to ride such surfaces as it applies much more forces to a smaller area as it rotates. I assume speed is a factor as well someone riding slowly would be far less damaging than someone riding fast. Considering ebikes only assist up to 15.5mph and many people won't put the effort in to go beyond that speed ebikes can often be slow bikes except up hills.
