What he wants is something that gives him Chris Hoys legs without thinkjng about it. What he hasn't realised is that it will be crap on tbe gravel as he'll have to pedal a heavy old lump at 16mph :D

We/I am after factual info about the tech. Picking a tool should be about how it works not the end result.

Had you read this (recent) thread? viewtopic.php?f=55&t=141115
There's a couple of links in there that I thought were really rather informative about this issue and some other snippets. Helped me no end!

That Raliegh is so obviously a rebadged German Trekking bike with all the usual accessories provided as standard. Best design of the lot

Reuse, recycle, thus do your bit to save the planet.... Get stuff at auctions, Dump, Charity Shops, Facebook Marketplace, Ebay, Car Boots. Choose an Old House, and a Banger ..... And cycle as often as you can......

Cheers all. That Raleigh is a bit of a hybrid for his needs. Some thing somewhat more MTB needed.

Precisely my thoughts - you really have to decide what you want to do with it. We went through various iterations before we were happy. Best of luck with the Reise and Muller - we tried a couple, but weren’t sure, partly because of cost, x 2 = 13 grand!
Was seriously impressed with the belt drive, though.

Ended up with Scott Axis erides, and very happy now!!

At least two of them are illegal with 1kw (possibly greater) D/D hubs.
