Yeee-Haaa! A gap in the miserable weather. Still a bit windy mind so decided on a coastal stroll and a cafe stop with my daughter rather than a bike ride.

We had nice weather yesterday. Low clouds, but no rain, and several degrees above freezing, which is warm here for December. I went for a short bike ride, which was very nice until I had a puncture about 2/3rds of the way home. I walked about 1 mile to a bus stop (there was a closer stop, but with fewer busses & more changes to get home), and took my bike on the bus. I didn't have a mask with (they are only required when social distancing isn't possible, but most people wear them anyway), but my buff served well enough, and I was glad I could just take the bus home, though I still have the puncture to deal with.

The only gap we're getting, is being undercover.
Rained for days, not seen the sun or the stars for a week or more.
Constant 100% clouds .......... and drizzle and rain, and more rain.

After leaving the RN, I had a job locally driving a van for a car-parts delivery firm. Had the job maybe six years.
On Wednesdays, the round took me to north Cornwall .......... Camelford/Davidstow/Otterham/Tintagel/Boscastle etc and driving over the hills it was frequently cloudy and horrid, but on cresting the top above Boscastle, I could see the sun over the sea. Happened lots of times.

Dropping down, the sun would come out and it was glorious.
Climbing back out, the damp and drear came back in.

Just here.

For months I have been taking the dogs up an ascending footpath called Watery Lane. Yesterday I found out why..there was a stream running down it

Hi,
HayTor has snow again this morning, frost and 0° at the moment in South Devon near the coast.
But the sun is shining.
If you want good weather in Devon and Cornwall you need to be on the south coast not the north coast.
That Bristol channel is really windy as is lands end.

Back in the eighties when I was at college in Camborne our workrooms were on the fifth floor and had a great view north, west and east. Many many times we would have days of dry and patchy blue sky and could see the cloud cover growing above the land to the east so that we would have intermittent sunshine for hours and St Austell and beyond was grey for most of the time. So that made it an east-west split. But then the land is a lot narrower here north to south. From what I remember of time spent in north Devon fog put paid to a lot of potentially pleasant days. Doesn’t moorland create weather of its own? My childhood holidays on the North Yorkshire coast seemed to consist of bright sunny mornings and cloud, cloud, cloud by the time we had got ourselves organised and down to the beach. perhaps it’s the sunshine warming the moorland causing water to evaporate off and form clouds that are wandering over the coast?
Judging by the last couple of years our little microclimate in west Cornwall has ceased to be as the number of dry days between October and April could be counted one one hand.

It's been a bit like this the past few days, looking towards Winter Hill appropriately, from the Side of Ashurst Hill, West Lanc's.

Lived in Newburgh and often went up Ashurst and to the beacon too. Father-in Law and Mother-in-Law's ashes are scattered up near the beacon.

Dad was the organist at Dalton Church for many years. Daughter One was christened there.
I used to catch the bus to Shevington County Secondary from the bottom of Cob's Brow Lane at the junction of Dalton Lane.

More snow over night & fog during the day yesterday & today. Cold too, the temperature on my garmin was dipping into the minuses mid afternoon yesterday & I didn't spot anything above 0°C when out in the car today. But it suddenly cleared just before sunset up here on Winter Hill.
