My Gtech Sport freewheel or free hub has become sticky
My Gtech Sport freewheel has become sticky, meaning when you are walking with your bike the pedals move instead of staying stationary like they should. This makes the bike think you are peddling which then triggers the motor to accelerate. The result in my garden the other day was my bike nearly flipping over. Any ideas how I can fix this myself. I think what caused it was we had some heavy rain meaning I had to cycle through some big puddles on my route home. I spoke to gtech and the offered to replace the rear hub as its under warranty but they are out of stock until may.
Re: My Gtech Sport freewheel or free hub has become sticky
Moisture may have ingressed in to the pawls causing light rusting and thus making them stick, so now not releasing to freewheel/ratchet. One could try dribbling some penetrating oil down the back of the freewheel to see if it helps to free up.
