(In my case it'd be a PB ....as in pie bike).

It probably should be a "Normal" as " Ordinary" is already assigned to penny farthings.....which I think would better be called a "Non-Safety".

Or maybe perhaps a " Conventional" which would have the benefit of being able to use them to travel to a big meeting ?

However "Accoustic" has a certain ring to it that could catch on.

I refer to my two main rides as the eCow and my (motor-free) honest bike. Doing a col with 60% of the power coming out of a battery does feel very much like cheating.

Oh, back when my main sport was fencing we had weapons with and without electrical hit detection. We called them electric épées and steam épées. Doesn't work for bikes because some berk would ask where to put the coal.
Have we got time for another cuppa?

OED records use in 1906 and 1910, apparently in contrast to bikes with engines.

I wondered if it had originated when bikes were pushed rather than pedalled by the rider.

I assumed it was to distinguish it from the motorbike. Anyway, got to post a link to the video now :D

And now I've listened to the song, the dewey bars were the only the beginning...

I see what you mean about steam.

But I'd still be interested to know when it was first used for old-fashioned technology.

“Proper.”
But only if it’s steel framed, no disc brakes, or aheadset, or tubeless, etc, etc. 8)

Electric or digital. A normal bike being analogue.
More realistically. Moped.

Well, if an e-bike is electrically powered, then all mine are me-bikes.
