Minister for Brexit Opportunism
Probably not eligible for any prizes, but a rather surprising finding:

Re: Minister for Brexit Opportunities
We all have to get different spanners imperial metric for our bikes. For the next generation make it easy stick to metric.
ps The Bank of England announced this week UK will have to pay 4 % more than then rest of Europe for food due to Brexit.I do not know if USA struck any major deals.Boris has just concluded only one significant big one with India.Unless anyone knows of others.

The current list is here, including the trade value:briansnail wrote: ↑6 May 2022, 6:21amI do not know if USA struck any major deals.Boris has just concluded only one significant big one with India.Unless anyone knows of others.

I'm not sure what you're referring to with India...
Many senior politicians in the USA have given us clear warnings not to damage or threaten the Belfast Agreement if we want a trade agreement. Unfortunately Johnson, Rees-Mogg and North have made repeated statements that do just that. This will become clearer when we know the results of the Northern Ireland elections later today and the contents of the Queen's Speech next week.
As the trade values show none of this will replace the value of the lost agreements for trade with EU Member States.

There must be some opportunities here:
NAO report "Regulating after EU Exit":
https://www.nao.org.uk/report/regulating-after-eu-exit/
FT coverage:
"UK regulators struggle to recruit staff for post-Brexit roles"
"CMA, HSE and FSA are facing shortfall of lawyers, vets and toxicologists, warns spending watchdog"
https://www.ft.com/content/7227a6dd-3ab ... pe=nongift
The most obvious would appear to be relaxation of border controls so that foreign workers can come here to carry out the additional regulatory work that is now needed because of the tightening of border controls.

The favoured suggestions according to the Express.

The consultation on use of irrational units has been published:
"Choice on units of measurement: markings and sales":
https://www.gov.uk/government/consultat ... -and-sales
It already includes:
2.5 We recognise that metric units remain essential for both science and international trade and the review will be focussed on the use of units of measurement in domestic trade.

Can you get the response form to download properly?
Re: Minister for Brexit Opportunities
Not only does that not work, but the questions are completely loaded.
It would be nice to think that the first of these was ironic, or at least self-referential.

Re: Minister for Brexit Opportunities
I guess that current strategy is:
a) find out what things will delight precisely that small number of people who constitute ‘swing voters’ in the most marginal constituencies in the country;
b) do those things, irrespective of how the rest of the country feels about it, because it won’t alter how they vote, and irrespective of whether those things are daft or not.
By such logic are elections won, and the strange wants of a tiny number of people foisted on everyone else. The consultation exercise is only there to make it appear that everyone else’s views count for anything.

And if it somehow goes wrong, Boris Johnson can blame one of his gophers. Even Jacob Rees-Mogg would be dispensable if needs must

Re: Minister for Brexit Opportunities
I'm just waiting for the triumphant announcement that nobody voted for metric.
When I filled it in, I added my own options, then voted for those.
