Expect to be shocked and appalled by how thin some modern rim sidewalls are. I had a couple of Mavics that were close to 1mm thick when new.......
i have too seen this trend over the years. makes me wonder what thickness of material is used for disc rims especially when wheel weight is such a selling point.

Thanks all for responses. I'll fettle something.
Rim thickness seems to be a modern issue though, I'd not come across it as a problem until last decade. I guess it's a consequence of the obsession with trimming weight off bikes or a cynic might say cutting costs.
