Muc-Off - potentially naughty comparison video
Re: Muc-Off - potentially naughty comparison video
I find Wilko bike cleaner is OK. But I don't let my bikes get too dirty so they are easy to clean

Re: Muc-Off - potentially naughty comparison video
Wanted to clean a very dirty caravan...... so thought I'd use some super-strong alloy wheel cleaner. It had little effect, and I was surprised. Next I tried the Poundland Bike Cleaner, and was very surprised as it lifted all the dirt and got it as clean as can be. I've found it good on the bike as well I don't know how it compares to Muc Off as I've never seen MO at a price I'm prepared to pay.

Simple Green will dissolve aluminum and tires.
I used to use it to clean the bike, very effective, but it dissolved the the tires
at the bead, where a bit of it would stay, it took a few months.
US Army aircraft mechanics were soaking parts in Simple Green,
bad idea, it does dissolve them, back to Dawn dish washing liquid
for the green suits.

I tried Muc Off chain lube and was not impressed at all. I clean my bikes with a bucket and rag, so see no need to ever use Muc Off again
I wish it were as easy as riding a bike

Warm water with a dash of washing up liquid, or car shampoo, and white spirits for the oily bits. Most of the white spirits ends up back in the tub, where the dirt settles to the bottom so that the spirits can be re-used. That covers my bike cleaning needs with no stupid specialist product premium prices.

Yep.
Good old washing-up liquid in a bucket of water. Sometimes use a bit of car shampoo.
Rinse off with a gentle hose.

Re: Muc-Off - potentially naughty comparison video
washing up liquid often has a salty content to thicken it i believe.
i avoid it for that reason.

See this link I posted previously about specialised cleaners and why washing up liquid is a very good choice for washing bikes and motorbikes,a scientist debunks the salt myth at 19.07minutes:- https://youtu.be/9NsFLPDgFqA

Salt?
There's enough of the stuff on the roads in the winter, so if Wup Lq has salt in it or not, it makes not a ha'porth of difference.

I use Fewicks concentrated bike cleaner. A small bottle (maybe 0.5 litre or so) that dilutes to make 11 litres costs about £12.00 at my local L.B.S. and lasts ages, a couple of years or so when cleaning my bike once every couple of weeks in winter, maybe once a month in summmer. I use a recycled Muc off spray bottle to apply it and only agitate really dirty parts with a nylon brush, then I wash it off with a hose. I run the chain through Gunk with one of those little gizmos that clamp on to it. Not very eco but effective............

That is what I use too. One small bottle lasts me several years and my bikes are always clean and shiny.
