Is that about using the shortened form?

Would it be better if we always used the long form in speech and writing?

Thanks

In the weather forecast they always say its going to be mold, when they mean mild!

Miriam Margolyes may be half Ausie but she cant half speak proper.

People who call themselves the Mummy and Daddy of their dogs.
Apart from the nauseous sentimentality there is a disquieting suggestion of inter species activities.
It's the same the whole world over
It's the poor what gets the blame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?

Even the BBC shipping forecasters say it!
Even on the BBC News!

Lazy pronunciation.

It's as bad as tempriture and vetrinarian and Februry, let alone Wensdy and Sattdy.
Or Launceston?

We drove up through Launceston today and via Holsworthy to Bideford to see Daughter1 and Grandson. 40odd mile drive each way.
Stayed for lunch.

LAWNSTON, and HOLES WORTHY and then BIDDY FORD.

We also had a wonderful time at the home of our daughter.

Do you get the difference of the A and The to the a and the?

Does my head in!!!
Too many people these days using The and A when they mean the and a.

The bit I've highlighted went straight over my head, rather than doing it in. (While we're on, I find more than one exclamation mark at a time irritating, but not something to linger on.)

I'm not surprised and i don't think that you'll be alone. The problem with this way of describing the difference in emphasis is explained a couple of pages back:

Fortunately there's an effective alternative.

Thanks for that. My missing it last time round is probably evidence of my eyes glazing over, rather than it having already slipped from my short-term memory.
