Rhine/Mosel liquid fuel or gas
Heading to Rhine and Mosel this summer. Plenty of decathlons available on Rhine route but not so much on Mosel. So should I take gas or liquid fuel for our stove?
Re: Rhine/Mosel liquid fuel or gas
Are you only asking about local availability of fuel?
Thanks

Heavily populated areas, I'm sure you will be ok with whichever you choose.

Take gas canister adapters
For the widespread French bayonet https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004124BUI/ (though you'll have to search out another source)
and for the widespread German aerosol format https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00U2B7UYQ (if your stove has a flexible pipe connection to the canister) or https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fire-Maple-bot ... B07T33RXX3 (if your stove screws directly onto canister - again you'll have to find a different source).
I've purchased screw canisters in Sport 2000 stores but they are less common than Decathelon so don't help much. But in France using the above adapters the bayonet canisters are widespread (most supermarkets). I've ony spent a week or 2 touring in DE but have only ever found the aerosol format and those in DIY/hardware stores (and in packs of 4!) - but they worked fine with the above adapter.

If you told us where you were starting we could be a bit more specific - i've never gad an issue finding screw canisters - you just need to know where to look. For example the sports department in the big Galeria department stores usually stock them, Globetrotter in Koln as well as Decathlon. You may need to plan ahead if you use a lot of gas, one 200g can usually does me for a fortnight of breakfast and supper but i fo eat out a fair bit.
Convention? what's that then?

Re: Rhine/Mosel liquid fuel or gas
For those who wanted more info. We normally take a couple of canisters with us and this may well be enough. Tbh, it’s our first tour as a couple (both ‘kids’ doing something else this year) so not sure how much we’ll use. However, I always like to allow for problems so would like to know if I can get any en route.
We are driving to Luxembourg, train to Strasbourg then down the Rhine to Koblenz before turning left and following Mosel/Moselle to Metz and then back to Lux.

Thanks.
I wouldn't expect any problems in buying liquid alcohol fuel.
Here's what it's called in different countries and *languages:
