TDF.......As No Ones Started A Post.

Post by NATURAL ANKLING »

Hi,
Seems that nobody else has started a TDF post?

I'm a bit behind at the moment, Stage four which is Mondays I think.

At first glance this looks a little dangerous but of course if you think about which way the wheels travelling, you're only gonna wear your tire out.

You picked a good place to start - 4 was the best stage so far :)

[technically it was on Tuesday, but France is in a different time zone so who cares ... ]

Hi,
The prologue I thought was very good.
Three riders in contention all a few seconds apart, the winner seemed surprised.

The opening time trial was a bit of will he or won't he ? Stay on his bike that is due to wet surfaces ?
A bit sphincter clenching on some of the corners.
Bissegger (EF Education) was reported to be using 64x11 gears. Not that it did him any good as coming cropper twice.

Tuesday’s stage where Phillipsen thought he had won, but failed to spot the guy in yellow about 50m in front of him.

I’m currently watching the Paris Roubaix style cobble stage highlights.

Yesterdays cobble stage was one of attrition for the GC riders with a few having off's, what does begger belief is how they let the motor bkes and cars kick up all the dust causing a blanket storm for the riders to ride through. Most of them looked like chimney sweeps by the end, Roglic being the biggest loser of the day time wise.

Anyone spotted the Brits, Yates, Pidcock and Thomas sat comfortably together in the top 6? Pidcock even came in 4th at Longwy today. They seem to be hovering just below everyone elses radar, others are grabbing all the column inches and on road attention.
Convention? what's that then?

With Pogacar taking the race leads as far as the yellow jersey is concerned is it all over?

INEOS have Yates, Pidcock, Thomas and Martinez all in top form ready to gang up against Pogacar but my money is still on the Slovenian - unless they can track down the drugs he's using

As this shows, the spectacle of the dust clouds possibly makes better TV/film than the effects of a muddy event!
[I guess in July a dusty version is most likely, whereas in April some mud is to be expected.]

And pro cycling is - at the end of the day - a spectator sport. So the imagery is important!

They're doing grand - and I'm optimistic for Thomas to at least make the podium.
But we haven't even seen the mountains yet, so expect some big changes in the time gaps at some point!

This is probably a learning year for Pidcock - he may turn into something special, but no need to rush it.
