Black spoke touch up

Post by fausto99 »

The flat black spokes on my Shimano wheels are looking very sad. Can anyone recommend a black paint pen or permanent marker which could do a good job?

No, but I did once rub a set down (in situ) and respray with a matt black aerosol. Worked well, but the hubs were black also, I covered the rims in some light oil so any overspray wiped off.

A permanent black marker pen can disguise a lot. You may have one already but any stationary supplier will sell them too. I've disguised some score marks on a seatpin with one. Look closely and you can tell but from a distance it looks good.
At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840 :D
