My New Naturehike Tent

Post by irc »

A Mongar 2. Currently £111 on SAmazon for the pale green and white version.

Build quality seems good. Weighs the same as my current touring tent - an Argos Pro Action 1 - but has vastly more interior space.

Plus points. Ample headroom. I'm 6ft3 and I can sit up straight and have a full hands with between my head and the top of the tent.
Inner first pitching and free standing (I know the inner first is not for everyone)
Side entry.
Vertical walls at ground level mean I don't need to sleep diagonally.

Minus points . Not sure about the high cut of the flysheet in high winds.
Slightly longer to pitch than my Argos.
Pegs are light but have quite sharp top so need some sort of tool to push into firm ground. This one sorted by swapping them for a set of Terra Nova Unisex's Aluminium V Tent Pegs . £12. These are 3g heavier per peg but have a flat top and are a cm or so longer..

thanks - definitely gets some great reviews, and added credibility as many seem to be from serious campers.
Have the idea that it might not be great for chilly weather.
Please report back on your experience with it.
