Frame protection tape

Post by roberts8 »

My wife has a new step through bike but her foot is scuffing the downtube as she gets on the bike.
Is there a clear protective tape we can use as I don’t want to buy a full set for an mtb.

Various older threads discussing helicopter tape are in the forum and are well worth reviewing.

Helicopter tape has become a bit of a generic term, some good, some rubbish.
3M recommend their 8671 HS tape for bikes, which is what I use. Not sure where to get it from, the supplier I used seems to have upped the minimum quantity, I made the mistake once of buying something on ebay that claimed to be this 3M tape and it was nothing like, I got a refund. Pretty much any tape will do, it's just that using the good stuff means only doing it once.

I got this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272097021185 ... 0906513798

The reason was the same; a step through ebike with a very scuffable downtube. Does the job at a very economic price
