https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/ ... mes-legacyAs the Commonwealth Games’ greatest cyclists flew around Wolverhampton on their £10,000 superbikes, the scent of glory in their nostrils, a 48-year-old doorkeeper at the Houses of Parliament was doing his best to keep up – and, in his own small way, to create a legacy of his own.
While gold in the men’s time trial was won by Australia’s Rohan Dennis in 46min 21.24sec – with England’s Fred Wright and Wales’s Geraint Thomas taking silver and bronze respectively – Ghana’s Chris Symonds could take considerable pride in his performance, despite finishing 16 minutes back.

Pleasing Commonwealth TT story.
It's the same the whole world over
It's the poor what gets the blame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?

That's lovely - especially his day-job being at Parliament!
Is he racing on a road-bike with clip-ons and a disk wheel? Fair play (as Geraint might well say)!

Symonds rode a TT rig with disc wheel and deep section front wheel. It was the Falkland rider Jim Horton, also mentioned in the article, who had a road bike with clip on tribars.
Looking on CTT results, Ghana’s Chris Symonds rides for North Road CC and has current year PB’s of 58.33 for 25, and 22.34 for 10, so he’s a decent rider.
