Lidl bike stuff in stock (16 August 2022)

Post by jimster99 »

Might be of interest to someone, I was in Lidls this evening and noticed they had some bike stuff in (pumps, helmets, lights, bike stand, spray cans of oil etc). Was plenty of stock left. They didn't have any locks or tools (apart from a mini 16-in-1 thing) annoyingly as I need both. Prices were a bit higher than they used to be & I have no connection with Lidls!

The front light looks like another decent road-legal light. The back light is a much shorter runtime than past ones but is USB-charged too.

Shame still no mitts. Anyone seen some decent ones?

I brought my dad a brooks saddle, as I love mine!

However he said it's too hard, which when I felt it I could understand as it's hadn't been broken in....

So popped down to Lidl for milk and there in the middle isle is a witkopp so I get him one and he's happy as Larry! Perfect for the turbo he says!

I get the nos brooks!

Saw the track pump, it looks and feels a good quality. It is quite tall, more than expected. Is this an issue.? Might be tempted as my zefal track pump is hanging on a thread, the pressure gauge no longer works and can't be replaced as its a non standard operation.
BTW they are 1p cheaper in my local store.

Pump heads like that usually have one side for presta valves, the other for schraeder (car) valves, and you move the lever away from the side you put the valve in to seal the head on and block the other hole.
The schraeder side will have a slightly larger hole, and it should have a central peg at the bottom of the hole if you shine a light down.

I bought a pair of these late last year, pretty robust for the price. I've just lost them so bought another pair. Not too keen on the white palm but I suppose it stands out a bit when you're indicating, (assuming you wash them every now and then!)

I use the car foot pump for the MTB with Schraeder valves, and a Lidl miniature pump for the bike with Presta valves. I can't work out how to use the track pump. It has a head with two air outlets, to which a lever is attached. Can anybody shed any light on it?
Like this? Use whichever sized hole fits the valve and raise the lever. It automatically blocks the one not in use.

Stoneybatter wrote: 18 Aug 2022, 5:12pm Thank you. It's exactly like that, including the attachments (I wondered what the heck they were, in my box of miscellaneous things). Oddly enough, I don't remember the pump having any carton or instructions, although I suppose it must have. I shall put it through its paces tomorrow.
The needle like thing is for footballs and the other two are for airbeds, kids blow up toys and the like.

They often just have a small cardboard sleeve stuck round the barrel, or somewhere. The very limited instructions are on it.
