Historic Energy Prices

Post by Pebble »

Anyone have any old bills 2009 to 2018 showing what you were paying for gas and electric (price per kwh and standing charges) I know it will depend greatly what deal you were in, but it might still help me put some figures on what I might have been paying.

I know how much I was paying per month in dierct debits, and I know excly what we were using per week for both gas and electric. But I would love to be able to put the unit prices onto it.

SadlyI don't have my old bills, but anyone here have theirs ?

Domestic electricity was about 15p/kWh IIRC; I remember a period when we used to buy (staggering) quantities for about half that at work.

Have a look at the blue line on this graph.

Well ....................

I have - and we have - kept accounts since we first had a bank account in 1976
Up in the loft ............. and I'm not going up there this evening, but maybe I will be doing in the next few days.

We paid in those days, when they sent us a bill after reading the meter(s).
We went into the bank and paid by cheque.

Give me a day or three, and I'll find what we were paying Way back When.
Spread sheets these days on a computer, but Way back When we used a notebook suitably ruled.

Wish i put all my bills in the loft. All that extra insulation would have saved me some dough.
Our previous supplier before going bust this spring 2022 was PFP energy. Gas 3.308 p/kwh,20.18p standing charge, Elec 12.968p/kwh,20.18 standing charge. No wonder they didnt survive.
We switched from Scot Power in 2021 who were charging us G 2.863p/kwh+23.33p/day, E 16.715p/kwh+21.84p/day
Prior to this cheaper deals were available the further back in time you went.
At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840 :D

Just remembering.
We used to have a Fiat500, and I kept a record of the fuel bought and used.

Here's the first page.

You're on a pretty dam good deal at the moment - 4.8 and 21.7p per unit for gas and electric until sept 23? that was well worth signing up for.

But your 18/21 figures are very similar to mine, therefor I suspect you have always chased the best prices like I have done. So your 2014 to 2018 figures I would guess would be very relevant to me - so any chance you could rake out your 2008 - 2014 figures - I woud be ever so thankful.

I have attached (hopefully) my electric prices for 2008 to 2013

They won't look quite like other people's, as I have an Economy 7 meter

Got me all nostalgic now... I recall the happy day I discovered the keyboard short-cut that enters the day's date in any cell (ctrl + semi-colon). Oh and the flight simulator in Excel '97.

But is there an online simulator of the simulator? It feels as if there should be...

Tried in in Numbers on my MacBook.

No, it doesn't work at all. Numbers doesn't recognise the command.
