This thread should not even exist.
TBH, I tend to agree.

I asked last week whether the mods have a mechanism to issue a notice in a way that cannot be replied to, and Slowster actually did that at the initiation of this thread.

IMO, it would have been wiser to leave it at that, a notice saying that someone had been barred, and why, ideally referring to the forum rule that they transgressed, full stop.

That wouldn’t, of course, prevent anyone opening a discussion of the rules, or moderation practice, in a new thread, but it might at least have minimised back-references to the individual.

So rather than ‘scaring people off’, Sussex cyclist’s posts actually drew new people in? Interesting…
Well he drew one person in, or our response to him did. Why are you so keen to defend SS? Are you not bothered that he appears to be running a campaign and drew you in on the pretext that he was just initiating a conversation? To me that is manipulation. I don't care whether I agree with his points, or not. I do care that he didn't declare his well prepared position up front.

I said so a couple of pages back, this thread is itself trolling, that a moderator would do what would in better times get one moderated is a sad reflection on this forum and the moderation team, this entire episode was easily avoidable. The poster couldn't have wished for a better response, if you look at their previous posts they're largely ignored, this reaction is probably enough to make them believe in Santa.
I'm not sure it's even the trolling that the moderators object to, the same poster has been blatantly trolling Enigma Cycles across several forums, including this one, for months, they didn't object to that.

100%. And it's turned into a feeding frenzy for the bullies and malcontents which is especially vile when the subject isn't able to answer for himself.

Various moderators have been ridiculed and vilified on Sussex Cyclist's website. They have no right of reply there. So, claims of bullying are, at best, ironic.

Whatever you post may be used by him as material for his own website and elsewhere online.
This is the key part of the OP. SC has also been posting links to various fora on Mumsnet in an attempt to cause a pile on. I think SC's behaviour is exceptionally underhand and unpleasant and this OP is entirely justified.

And that's my last word.

Mumsnet is a pit of vipers and I don't use any site hosted or belonging to the person at hand. It's not compulsory to go to either as pointed out above.

I do belong here and use this forum and I don't appreciate it being hijacked for personal attacks and revenge. The fact this very thread was started as some sort of warped defence speaks volumes about the people involved.

What has that got to do with this forum and it's members? It's of absolutely no interest to me. Replying to posts made there by posting here is some unwinnable tit for tat stupidity. The previous incarnation of this forum dissolved itself in just such an absurd manner, I thought the lessons had been learnt.

That's all well and good for you to say as you were not part of the initial thread/trolling nor are you(mis)quoted on his own little pet/man-thing wiggling-project.
IMO he's now posting stuff on there, and possibly other forums, purely to bring this forum into disrepute.
That is what needs to stop.He is obviously on some massive ego-trip and quite possibly something more sinister.
BTW I'm not quoted on there either as far as I can see.

You do know the phrase 'don't feed the Troll' yes?

A modern version of don't argue with idiots. They beat you with experience/bring you down to their level.

If you want to argue with him, do it where he's posting. It's not appropriate here.

I will be as it appears I might be the only person here who can
It's appropriate here because he is drawing unwarranted attention to this forum, and Cycling UK, with his deluded ramblings.

Long term it could be good. Hopefully the regulars that decided to join in and agree with the transphobic ignorance will realise how out of touch and unacceptable their behaviour is. I doubt it though, they’ll just see it as PC/wokeness gone mad.

This thread has been locked again.

The main purpose was to make members aware that their posts may be used elsewhere.

Regarding the Enigma trolling, we were aware of it & discussed it. I honestly wish I put a stop to it, then.
