Hit the dizzy heights of 6000 posts. Just over 1 a day since I joined this fellowship. Not as prolific as some but a milestone for me.

I'm saying nowt!
It would be interesting if there was a readout of posts each month. You would see that my post-rate has dropped and dropped. Some days and weeks, I don't even open the forum.

I suspect MickF feels like me about this forum. There are many whose views I don't agree with but glad that members go to the trouble of posting them.
I'm not keen on posts that just have a link without any comments but usually look anyway.
It's only when posters get angry and personal with each other I stop looking at the forum.
Congratulations on reaching 6000 posts rjb

Congrats rjb. Can't remember how many I'm on.
ETA: Now I do: 440 behind you.
Originally came here when I was converting an old MTB to a tourer. Great advice. Thanks again to all who gave it.
<sigh> Wish Brucey were in here again.

Re: 6000
When I started cycling again in 2007 after a gap of 45 years this forum was a wonderful inspiration and technical resource. After many years of touring my cycling has dwindled to pleasurable day rides and I doubt I will be doing any multi day tours any more due to various factors which dont include my fitness or endurance.
I still read many of the technical posts to keep abreast of things and I find discussions on various topical subjects interesting, especially the views that I dont share which I try to understand.

Reuse, recycle, thus do your bit to save the planet.... Get stuff at auctions, Dump, Charity Shops, Facebook Marketplace, Ebay, Car Boots. Choose an Old House, and a Banger ..... And cycle as often as you can......
Re: 6000
I started cycling again in 2004 after a gap of (only) eight years. Previously a commuter and "tourer" with my bike on my ships in the RN. Been many places and countries and dabbled a bit as far afield as Australia and the Far East. Did JOGLE in 1994 too.
Was on here in the "old days" of the previous forum, and the one before that. As far as I'm aware, there's only TC and R2 who go back as far as me.
My post count only counts from the reincarnation of this present forum, as all the other stuff as been sort of deleted, but this forum was a revelation to me.

Re: 6000
Interesting to see other folks' "gaps". I used to ride 5 miles to school every day, stopped when I was 18 and started again in desultory fashion when I was 37. Did my first 100 km in 1997, which coincided with my first "tweezer out the bits" dose of road rash. Haven't let up since.
Have we got time for another cuppa?
Re: 6000
I had a break from club cycling after I graduated. Moved away to a new career, met the future wife, first house, kids arrived. Took up jogging and then returned to cycling to save my knees in my late 30's.

Re: 6000
Got interested in cycling through cycling on a paper round. By 14 had done short overnight tours. In 20s took up competitive long distance running but still on a bike occasionally, including some commuting.
Came back to cycling at 37 when knees (or rather one knee) couldn't take it anymore. Occasional lapses since, but will be out in about an hour....
