Are you the same person you were 50 years ago Philip? Same plans, dreams, priorities?!?
Did the CTC remain exactly the same in all the decades upto the charity conversion?

Can we just cut the crap here. Rename the topic:
"Whining about CUK - don't expect anything positive herein"

Re: CYCLING UK Survey
That's reminded me that in my first period of CTC membership (1958-ish) I received a CTC leaflet which argued that cycling was the safest form of transport. (Regulars may already be spotting which way this is going.) As a gobby 13 yo, I ended up in an argument with a know-all a couple of years older than me. To the amusement of his hangers on, he suggested I prove my case by riding in front of a truck. Lesson learned: be clear what you are trying to demonstrate.mattheus wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 3:43pmAre you saying there has been change? Who'd have thought?!!!

This means that even your natural supporters may display healthy scepticism. Indeed, they are often the hardest to convince because they tend to have a good knowledge of the subject. And may have some understanding of the use of data.

I gave up after 2 questions as life is too short.Philip Benstead wrote: ↑9 Feb 2023, 1:44pm CYCLING UK Survey
Have you received this survey?
IMHO these surveys presume certain answers, questions One I had to answer, but none of the feelings expressed did not tally with my views. What do others think, am I the odd one out?

No need to "with respect" memattheus wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 4:49pmWith the greatest respect TC:thirdcrank wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 4:09pm This means that even your natural supporters may display healthy scepticism. My point was that if you are organising a survey - or other research - hoping that the findings will provide credible evidence -then arguably the first people who you need to convince about the validity of your methods and hence your eventual findings are your natural supporters who will often be the people you want to campaign on the basis of your evidence.
Re: CYCLING UK Survey
So you don't like a polite request for clarification? Do let me know what is acceptable wording , for future reference.thirdcrank wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 5:23pmNo need to "with respect" memattheus wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 4:49pmWith the greatest respect TC:thirdcrank wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 4:09pm This means that even your natural supporters may display healthy scepticism. Anyway, thank-you for expanding on your point. I don't have an immediate short response, sorry.

Re: CYCLING UK Survey
It's a personal thing. Setting aside the habitual flummery which is the stock-in-trade of learned friends and politicians - often synonymous - IME experience "with (the utmost) respect" usually precedes the opposite. Either way, it adds nothing imo.
PS I wasn't looking for a response. You asked for clarification and I tried to give it, as I have tried now.
