Enjoyed that thanks, I suspect that an e-tandem will be needed to get my wife back on one!

I fitted a Tongsheng mid drive to our Dawes discovery tandem. Mrs Rjb is pleased as punch unless I forget to recharge the battery. :D
At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840 :D

Great review and I am in complete agreement with you in terms of the difference a bit of electric assist can make to tandem riding.

I converted our Orbit to a rear hub motor drive and it made a huge difference to how we use our tandem. Obviously, our DIY conversion will not be as 'complete' as the Moustache, but it suits us very well. Not having to worry about headwinds / hills is a boon.
