Question from the US

Post by Woodtourer »

Is anyone here familiar with a company Bankrupt Bikes? It is a UK eBay store. They have some Schwalbe tires I'm looking at.
Any advice would be great!

That is Bankrupt Bike Parts https://bankruptbikeparts.co.uk/ I have used them several times with great satisfaction. On one occasion the part I wanted was no longer in stock, they contacted me offering alternatives and answering associated questions with no problem. Recommended.

Bought lots of stuff from them in the past. The only disappointment was a coaster hub that had obviously been stored in damp conditions at some point in its shelf life, and had pitted races. Eveeything else has been ok.

I’ve used them a few times. via eBay, and have always been pleased with my purchases. They are based in Cradley Heath in Birmingham, local or visiting UK customers can collect from their sales counter too.

I don’t know if the prices on their website and their eBay store are the same, sometimes it’s less going direct.

Looks like they have an Amazon presence too: https://www.amazon.co.uk/bankrupt-bike- ... bike+parts

Don’t fret, it’s OK to: ride a simple old bike; ride slowly, walk, rest and admire the view; ride off-road; ride in your raincoat; ride by yourself; ride in the dark; and ride one hundred yards or one hundred miles. Your bike and your choices to suit you.

Cradley Heath isn't in Birmingham 🤦‍♂️
Yes Bankrupt Bike Parts have been trading for years ,never actually bought of them but they are connected with a shop outlet I occasionally use ,on the same site. Not heard any bad reports on them.

:) Well OK then, it’s eight mikes west of Birmingham and in the ‘Black Country’.

Edit. For what it’s worth, and you can see this on the map, there’s no countryside visible but rather miles and miles of built on area. Not actually part of Birmingham but part of the West Midlands Metropolitan County, or Greater Birmingham, for similarly see City of London and its satellites.

Edit. Schwalbe Marathon Supreme, various sizes, from Bankrupt Bike Parts

"Cradley Heath" sounds even better than "Rowley Regis" in the local accent.

I searched that site for Supremes, couldn't find any.

Can you give details, size, price, etc and a link. Ta.

Here you go Simon
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394514237617 ... Swps5kEdqY
26''x 2.00
Note added from further reading of the above ad, these are Supreme HS382 - the first version of the Supreme,
the later and final versions were numbered HS469 which had a different tread pattern(s?) and compound(s?).
It rang a bell from this thread :-viewtopic.php?p=1637782#p1637782
Differences shown here from a previous thread as well :-

Thanks Colin. Good research.

I've been using the 2nd generation of Supremes for at least 6 years, that thread says 2016 for 2nd gen, so these (1st gen) tyres must be pretty old.
