Might be worth looking at CX (cyclocross) tyres. I put a pair of Schwalbe CX Pro Cyclocross tyres on an old road bike and they were great for canal path / bridleway type tracks. At 30mm they were a bit snug, but rolled ok.

Road Bike to Gravel Bike?
Re: Road Bike to Gravel Bike?
That’s what I have on my bike (the orange one pictured earlier). I’m very happy with them. The tread clears easily and they roll really well on tarmac sections.Tinkerbell wrote: ↑25 May 2023, 10:26pm Might be worth looking at CX (cyclocross) tyres. Re: Road Bike to Gravel Bike?
Without meaning to get personal, what you haven't mentioned is your weight. It has a considerable effect on suitability, bike, wheels, tyres, pressures... If I were to ride a road bike on the pave in the photo above I wouldn't expect to get very far... OTOH I've known lightweight riders able to float over the roughest of tracks on the most delicate of machines... If you're getting pinch flats from potholes your tyres are as Steve already suggested at too low a pressure, but the required pressure is weight dependant and there's online charts to determine that.
I just had a glance at your bike spec, the radial front wheel would cause me some concern off road, if your're hitting potholes with that it isn't doing it any good. I wouldn't rush to upgrade, though I'd expect to need to replace at some point. The spec says max tyre size 30mm, not all 30mm tyres are the same and also measure different depending on the rim. That 30 probably allows for some 32's, but probably not for a 30 with a chunky tread. I wouldn't spend too much on tyres, if they have the desired effect you can always go higher next time, these Marathon Racers come in 30mm, they're very capable on light off-road and rough on-road, reasonable without being exceptional in all other regards and you can usually find them around £20 ea.

Would you favour those above the usual low-price road pick of Continental Ultra Sports in general or only if light off-roading?PH wrote: ↑26 May 2023, 9:32am these Marathon Racers come in 30mm, they're very capable on light off-road and rough on-road, reasonable without being exceptional in all other regards and you can usually find them around £20 ea.

Re: Road Bike to Gravel Bike?
I haven't used those so any comparison I make isn't based on experience. At a glance they look like fairly robust road tyres V's the Racer which, despite the name, is still a touring tyre, there'll be a fair bit of overlap. I have used the Rubino Pro*, another budget road tyre that gets a lot of recommendations, I found them nicer on road but less versatile and maybe more puncture prone and quicker wearing, there's often little difference between light off-road and the local lanes I like.mjr wrote: ↑26 May 2023, 10:32amWould you favour those above the usual low-price road pick of Continental Ultra Sports in general or only if light off-roading?PH wrote: ↑26 May 2023, 9:32am these Marathon Racers come in 30mm, they're very capable on light off-road and rough on-road, reasonable without being exceptional in all other regards and you can usually find them around £20 ea.

* These now have a 30mm option, I'm sure the widest used to be 28 which is what I've used.

Re: Road Bike to Gravel Bike?
If you can squeeze 32mm in satisfactorily, can I recommend Continental Contact Plus?
They’re pretty much everything proof, surprisingly comfy-riding, and cope very happily off road. I did oodles of “light gravel”, and rather madly did part of the South Downs Way in dry weather on 32mm ones, with panniers (although not very heavily loaded), and no harm came to the tyres, although the extreme vibro-massage that I got was what finally persuaded me to go up a size.
In short, a very good mixed use tyre, widely available.
