Theres a lot of metal to go through in those (sixties?) cast seatposts, some of them were almost solid at the top.
I expect you have taken the edge off the "reamer".
32mm flat wood bits £1.50 each at toolstation

Had a go last night. The 25mm metal drill bit is getting through it very slowly. Lots of oil and very very slow or it gets jammed. It's going to take a while. Could probably do with a couple of smaller ones to build up to it...
