We have a dog trailer for our small, terrier sized dog - a DoggyRide Mini, but larger trailers are available. We do road and off-road rides up to 40 miles, with plenty of breaks along the way. If on an off-road trail, we will let her out of the trailer to run alongside us occasionally, but only for a mile or so. We’ve taken her out from being a puppy, so she’s quite used to it.

I enclose a photo of our rig, hitched up to my Dawes Super Galaxy. The trailer folds down for storage and transportation.

We got one but our dog didn't take to it. She got a bit too distressed for us to consider using it. It really does depend on the dog l ours used to run alongside us on off road routes. Canal near our house then was great for young son and dog. Mountain biking was good up, to 9 miles with the dog. Having moved we no longer have the canal or any offroad route for the dog to join us hence getting a cheap dog trailer to try it out. Shame it didn't work. Now we have to leave the dog at home which limits our time riding.
