What Has Made You Laugh Today ?
Re: What Has Made You Laugh Today ?
Getting towards mid-winter here in Australia, and where I live (Canberra) that means the temperature at the start of morning rides is frequently below freezing. We were waiting at the meeting point for our ride the other morning in cold foggy conditions, and my wife commented that it was drippy nose weather. I replied that it must be worse in Siberia, and a friend who has a way with words, and writes some quite good cycling doggerel, said "perma-snot". I suggested that he should immortalize the word in verse, and he has duly obliged:
Beware if you ride when it's freezin'
And the wind up your nose gets you sneezin'
Nose dribbles won't drop
But form perma-snot
That hangs there till next summer season.

Reminds me of the good old days (i.e. before I met my cardiologist) when I used to go frostbiting with a couple of chums and get my beard full of ice. Frozen condensation from breath, of course. Of course.
Have we got time for another cuppa?

Here’s a photo of the swing bridge at Whitby. It’s open in the photo and a couple of sailing boats are passing through the gap.
The sign made me chuckle.

From Aubrey's Brief Lives
This Earle of Oxford, making of his low obeisance to Qeen Elizabeth, happened to let a Fart, at which he was so abashed and ashamed that he went to Travell, seven yeares. On his return the Queen welcomed him home, and says, My Lord, I had forgott the Fart.

It's the same the whole world over
It's the poor what gets the blame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?

This speed limit sign.
Initially I thought the bollards were the later addition and someone didn’t remove the sign, but no, the sign is quite recent, it would seem.

Reminds me of the first time I met the daughter of our friend Margaret her first words " hello I'm the new improved version "simonineaston wrote: ↑19 Jun 2023, 2:18pm ...the empty meaninglessness of marketing.
