Currently £96 at Blacks, Millets etc.

Recommended for DoE.

I don't have one and never used one but it does seem suitable for camping when touring.

I was given a 300 a few months ago and lighter than my Vango I’ve been using the last 2 years.

From what i've seen of DoE recommendations there is little thought to the quality or suitability of much of the stuff! Personally i'd steer clear of anything with that 'recommendation'.
Convention? what's that then?

I would say that's not really fair. Are e.g. Trangias really poor quality and unsuitable? The stuff at https://www.dofe.org/shopping/dofe-expe ... kit-guide/ strikes me as pretty reasonable.

I've just returned from a 3 week tour in France with my husband using one of these tents. It has transformed our camping! We can now both get dressed at the same time and the doors on each side are very convenient. We didn't get a real weather test, fortunately. The only downside is less storage space, as it is shorter than our previous tent - a Vango Spectre 200. We probably only camp (lightweight) for 3 or 4 weeks a year but the 15 year old Spectre is still going strong, although we have had to replace the poles.

Stuff like tents and stoves tend to be bought by organisations rather than individuals and gets regular workouts, including by folk who have a somewhat cavalier attitude to looking after stuff that isn't their own...
