It might be Monday before someone flicks the switch for your journey.
I don’t see any planned maintenance for the line.

I did Kyle of Lochalsh to Dingwall and Dingwall to Thurso earlier this year. If you intend travelling at peak time/season definitely book. I got the raised eyebrow but got away with it as it was low season.
Trains have limited spaces and I had to remove my panniers so as not to impede the passing snack trolley.
Great rides regardless.

thanks all. made the booking, rode Lairg to Inverness mostly hassle free — the cycle space has some kind of bar thing to hang the bike off. of course that doesn’t work with frame bags or top tube bags

! Conductor wasn’t too pleased but didn’t force me to take them off.

Reminds me of a trip in Germany, the guard/ticket inspector came through the train and demanded that all panniers had to be taken off the bikes and placed on the overhead racks. By the time I had taken the panniers off and realised the overhead rack was too small to take panniers, the guard had moved along the train to harrass someone else.....happy days :D .
