Campsite/spot recommendation on WYCR near Eccup Reservoir

Post by iorek »

Hello,

I am dream-planning a 2-day cycling trip on the West Yorkshire Cycling Route, following the trail available on cycle.travel. My plan is to start early in Holmbridge (south of Holmfirth) and deal with the worst of the hills in the first day ;-). My somewhat ambitious plan assumes I will cover around 120-130km on the first day, which will put me somewhere between Otley and the Eccup Reservoir (north of Leeds). Looking at various maps, there aren't many campsites around there (the three that I have found are these, but I think not all of them allow tents and they are off the route; I haven't yet contacted any of them):

Could anyone suggest a better spot for an overnight stay with a tent in that area?

Not sure it's close enough to eccup, but st Helena's is decent?

It's reasonably close, and it's the same people who run chevinparks, I've sent them the message and will report back. They are I think my first choice for a stay.

I would say you'd find a quiet spot at the north end of Warren lane. I shan't say more but I'm sure you can find it.
