Ebike motion range extender

Post by Rickyboy »

Hi, does anyone have an answer to this question? I have searched without luck.
I am doing a tour of the first world war battlefields with friends next year. Although I have bike options I would prefer take my Orbea M30 e bike.
My question relatto the range extender/ charger.
I understand how it works as a charger rather than a second battery.

Scenario follows follows.

I have done a days riding and both the main battery and the extender are exhausted.
I cant get the bile near a power outlet but can take the extender to the room to charge.
Next morning the extender is 100% the main battery very low or flat.
Is there a risk fitting the extender and would the motor work or need to be charged a percentage from the extender first?

I don't know for certain but I would imagine it would be OK to fit the extender in order to recharge the main battery somewhat, but not ride the bike until the charge in the main battery is sufficient to power the bike for some distance, perhaps 50% or 60%. I believe that the recharging rate is not fast enough to replenish the main battery to meet demand if the higher power settings are being used.

I guess I could ride initially with no assistance, I.e powered off.
