Alcohol stove stand

This cable came with my alcohol stove stand. Does it have any practical use, other than tying the two plates together so they don’t get lost?

I wish I knew the answer, cos I'm intrigued. I can't see any reason other than the one you give; but that does seem a fairly unusual thing to include, so maybe there's some other purpose.

Lots of them seem to include a cable. Some descriptions mention that you can use the cable to tie the pieces to a backpack:
