No, it's just me repeating a snippet I heard on Radio 4 this morning.mattheus wrote: ↑16 Feb 2024, 11:33amDo you (or anyone!) have a figure for these losses? So it should be a one-off.reohn2 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2024, 9:13am British gas profits rise by over 900% in a year:- https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... s-centrica

Just a conversation, no project yet. 3.6 GW aggregate across several cables.
Massive, but no great unknowns...

I haven't read this yet. Previous National Grid reports have been the single most helpful source of quantitative information on realistic scenarios.

Dynamic pricing being discussed by OFGEM. Coming our way in the future.
An attempt at balancing usage with generation to control pricing. Smart metering will be the key to its introduction.

And of course it connects(!) intimately to local generation, vehicle to grid and vehicle to home.

Re: UK energy
The article appears concerned only with wind vs FF, there's no mention of nuclear which is often referred to as 'low carbon' or 'lower carbon' energy rather than 'renewable'. To me, renewable suggests solar PV, geothermal, wind and other fluvial energies.ANTONISH wrote: ↑26 Apr 2024, 9:43amI presume Nuclear is included in renewable ?Jdsk wrote: ↑26 Apr 2024, 8:29am "Wind farms have been the primary source of electricity in the United Kingdom for the past two consecutive quarters, marking the longest stretch on record that renewable energy has surpassed fossil fuels in U.K. electricity generation."
