Yes, another example of corporate greed which ends up with ordinary folk being seriously injured. Selling a product that you know will brake is bad, selling a product that you know will break in a very dangerous way - in this case it appears to be Babboe cargo bike - is truly shocking. I doubt that it will happen but the board of the company concerned should be asset stripped and in jail.
… the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) ordered the company to stop selling its bikes due to safety risks. The organisation further stated that Babboe had received hundreds of reports about broken frames, but had failed to report them to the regulator despite being required to do so by law.
Don’t fret, it’s OK to: ride a simple old bike; ride slowly, walk, rest and admire the view; ride off-road; ride in your raincoat; ride by yourself; ride in the dark; and ride one hundred yards or one hundred miles. Your bike and your choices to suit you.

A further link to reports of this shocking behaviour: https://nltimes.nl/2024/02/15/babboe-or ... fety-risks
Babboe will have to stop selling cargo bikes for the time being by order of The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA).
I hope that the OP will modify his thread tittle to add the manufacturer’s name, someone searching the forum will want this information - well I certainly would.

I find myself caught right in the middle of this unfortunately.
As an elderly cyclist I changed to a Babboe cargo trike. It is wonderful, it acts as my dogs chariot and off we go. I no longer drive, live in the Scottish Borders and it has been a lifeline as we have no public transport out to my village.
All was well until now! I cannot ride it, it’s frustrating, and it’s still not resolved. I am anxious that when they requested the frame number stamped into my frame, and I inputted it into their system, it was not recognised. How can that be? I ordered it directly from Babboe in the Netherlands, and they shipped it over to me. How can it be they do not recognise the frame number?

I wonder if the OG bakfiets has similar issues. Frame construction looks similar with a single beam. No problems with mine so far though.
