After you cross the Kessock bridge there is no need to drop down into North Kessock. After crossing the bridge carry on , get some great food at Harry Gows, and follow cycle path beside A9 to rejoin your route.

I go down to see the seals! Never have seen any yet to be honest. But you are quite right, most times I miss it, its the software which seems to insist. Thanks again for looking at it.

Seals! When I visited Skelbo Castle , Dornoch Firth , it was full of seals.
Yet I’ve visited Chanonry Point a few times and still not seen a Dolphin.

Seal are the Labradors of the sea, they swim around with big smiles bringing waves of optimism with them. Until the Killer Whales get them, that is, but until then, they are happy and optimistic.

Hope everyone's plans are going well.

For me, change of plan, I've decided to try following the A9 South of Inverness rather than go the Spittal of Glenshea / Grantown route. This does mean I'm going to miss the alpine like Caringorns climb, but this is going to be my 13th LEJOG and I want to start shaking it up. I was amazed to find the A9 has cycle routes for much of its length. From Perth I'm going to stay in Kingussie instead of Grantown.

If anyone has any thoughts about these two routes I would be grateful.

The only comment is that when we got to Dunkeld we went on the paths by the river which were excellent for cycling. This way you can end up on the minor road W of A9 rather than E of A9 and thus miss the A9 completely (I think your route has a couple of miles presumably on the cyclepath next to the A9)

Nickyboy, sorry, I can't work out where the paths are alongside the river which get me West of the A9, can you give me any further details?

I think he means route77 ( turn left at the North car park it used to be muddy but now tarmac) along by the river to jubilee bridge. Cross over there to the B898.. lovely route to Logierait bridge where you can pick up your route again.

We should know how we're doing by that time. When I walked LeJog I got my son to book accomm for each night
on a daily basis and it seemed to work out ok. Here's hoping.........

You WALKED Lands End John O' Groats????????

Twice in the USA I have met walkers doing the coast to coast. In both cases well into the east to west crossing in different bits of Nevada.

We have lots here and I see them as big sunbathers taking over the pontoons and being quite grumpy!

That's the one. You cycle past Dunkeld Cathedral and then by the Tay on an excellent shared use path to the Jubilee Bridge. Then the B898 to Logierait Bridge.

Can I plug into the swarm again and ask if anyone has advice about road issues in Cornwall and Edinburgh. I hit the road closure in Cornwall on its last day! Its Tredrealane Lane. Does anyone have local knowledge as to whether its passable for a bike, or have any diversion suggestions?

Also in Edinburgh, West of the the city Barnton Avenue is closed for a year, but I reckon a bike should be OK.

As ever, any local knowledge / advice gratefully received.

Here's the outline plan.
April 25th to 29th, final training by doing Coast to Coast Return with a non cycling friend. Morecambe to near Skipsea (for 10 minutes and a photo) then back to Morecambe.
May 2nd, Train from Oxford to Reading, to Penzance.Arrive JOG 16th. Wife is joining me for the last day
May 17th leave bike with courier at JOG, drive with long suffering wife down to Inverness to stay with good friends. During this drive we hope to meet a northbound Ken, formerly of this parish, who has come all the way from the colonies to do LEJOG.
May 18th holiday in Lake District then home.

The roadworks detail on one.network says "Sidewalk closure - No" so I reckon that you can get through although you might need to dismount and push the bike on footpath or possibly the verge. If it said "Yes" for the sidewalk (footway on the UK English version of one.network) closure then I would assume that it's impassable.
