And the Wincanton classic last happened over 25 ago. If that had continued, I doubt the Rutland would have had the same interest, not been able to claim classic without it being a joke like some others.TrevA wrote: 7 Feb 2024, 3:10pm The Rutland Classic is a race in its own right, it’s not a replacement for anything. The Wincanton (which became the Leeds and then the Rochester Classic), and the Rutland are aimed at different classes of riders. The Wincanton was always a top level pro race attracting World Tour riders, the Rutland has never been a top level pro race, even though it’s listed on the UCI calendar, it has only ever had lower level continental teams riding.mjr wrote: 7 Feb 2024, 3:53pmAnd the Wincanton classic last happened over 25 ago. There’s no agreed definition of what a “Classic” race is.

Only four days while the men get six. Is British Cycling enjoying putting them back in their place, eh?rareposter wrote: 15 Apr 2024, 6:26pm Women's Tour is back on:

I'm hardly a Big Cheerleader for BC, but I suspect it's BC doing the best they can do in the time.mjr wrote: 15 Apr 2024, 9:48pmOnly four days while the men get six. Is British Cycling enjoying putting them back in their place, eh?rareposter wrote: 15 Apr 2024, 6:26pm Women's Tour is back on:

In the long term the 4 days against 6 isn't good enough, but sounds to be the case that it's 4 days more than might have been on the table for this year so short term at least seems not unreasonable to be thankful for anything

I must admit I never really bothered with the Tour of Britain, it always came across across as a third rate show to me. The Tour in Yorkshire on the other hand was fantastic
Re: Stuff the Tour of Britain
Today's first stage of the Women's race was great stuff, lots of room for tactics and luckily not the slide-fest the chaps in the Dauphiné were experiencing.

Managed to convince the OH that we ought to visit friends in Colwyn Bay on Wednesday and spend Thursday in Llandudno, while she sewed in the campervan, I wandered along the prom to the finish line and watched the closing stages on the big screen.

Quite enjoying the women’s tour. The location is better than last years and much more interesting. Way better than the men’s ToB last year with its contrived scoring system. I agree with JJ that the TdYorkshire was fantastic while it lasted.

It's the same the whole world over
It's the poor what gets the blame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?

Yup, that’s probably it. I don’t know the north wales climbs but could relate to them.Mike Sales wrote: 9 Jun 2024, 1:31pmI enjoy the home tours when they get onto roads I know, like North Wales.geocycle wrote: 9 Jun 2024, 1:29pm Quite enjoying the women’s tour. Having thrown away two biggies now this year, perhaps the next SD Worx training camp will concentrate on celebration timing...
