As in the title, is anyone else planning to ride the Dunwich Dynamo?

I join it at Finchingfield, starting from near Haverhill, to Dunwich then back again (using a different route) for a round trip of 250km. I've started in London once before. It was a tedious ride until I got well past Epping.

Have travelled down from the midlands to do it before and really enjoyed it, unfortunately since they started even banning folding bikes on the local trains the day after, the logistics haven't worked out for me. It's easier to go and do "Ride to the Sun" and get back from Edinburgh!

We cycled to Cambridge one year and got the train from there, no restrictions. Unfortunately it was another 80 miles on top of the 120 or so to get to Dunwich! Has to be said, I don't think we were the most fragrant of people on the train...

But yes, the logistics of getting back has always been annoying with that ride, I've done it about a dozen times and never found anything that really works "easily". In the days when trains from Ipswich were a thing, you could book onto specific services and I remember setting off from the beach one day, nice easy 40 miles down to Ipswich... Then one of the guys got a puncture, took ages to fix, it started raining and we ended up in full TTT mode down a main road to make it to the station on time. Absolutely soaked.

And one year the train stopped at Colchester due to a vehicle hitting the bridge ahead so it threw everyone off in the middle of Colchester (also in the pouring rain) and basically left us to our own devices to get home.

I did it years ago and really enjoyed it. But getting back was a bit of a hassle, so I slept a bit on the beach at Dunwich and then rode to a friends house in Norwich. I was quite broken when I got there....
