I am well aware of the footprint of using the internet - but clearly my advice to one user on this forum will not produce "thousands of tonnes of carbon emmisions", so don't please don't blame me for that!!!
It wasn't intended as my telling you how to do things  - simply a reminder (for all who are reading this) that using internet and data instead of aerial broadcasts (where possible) typically account for a whole load more carbon emissions.

This isn't widely known, there are many here who are extremely keen to do their bit for global warming, hence the mention.

You're correct to mention that one person won't have a large effect on our planet, just as the UK with 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions won't - but at the very least people should be aware of the facts. The more people who take a lead, the better.

Don't you worry... cool thing about the Archers is that you can listen to it once in a blue moon - and nothing much will have changed!

Further to the discussion about BBC and TV license and how the discussion moved, interesting number reported in relation to people giving-up having a licence
https://www.theguardian.com/media/article/2024/aug/30/more-cuts-and-a-merger-with-channel-4-the-bbc-contemplates-its-radical-future wrote:Yet one BBC insider warned “don’t count your chickens yet”, as the political threat is replaced by an acknowledged threat of irrelevance with 500,000 households a year cancelling their TV licence. As a result, there is a growing acceptance that extreme thinking might be required to secure public service broadcasting.
