I got back a bit later and they had let them out of their sight. LK seemed to be suffering a bit more in the final half an hour so I wasn't too surprised when Vos added a 14th (!) rainbow jersey to her palmares.
Just... wow!

It's a fact that MTB is the "little brother" to road, in elite sport terms. If it was the other way around, MTB might be more competitive, and PFP might have won less rainbows but be a little richer!Wipperman_95 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2024, 11:07am I've seen a stat that PFP actually has more rainbow jerseys than Vos.....but is always overlooked by the road biased media.
As far as I can tell she "only" has 10. Vos' total is arguably quite skewed by her 7 'cross world titles.Wipperman_95 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2024, 11:07am I've seen a stat that PFP actually has more rainbow jerseys than Vos.....but is always overlooked by the road biased media.
The women's pro peloton is now starting to get in to millionaire salaries at the very top end of the sport, though for much of Vos' career it was fairly typical to turn up to races in her parents' campervan. Since PFP is in the "old guard" too I don't think being rich would have been on the agenda, and I don't know for sure but wouldn't be surprised if MTB was actually more lucrative for the women.mattheus wrote: ↑16 Oct 2024, 3:35pm

If you want to be a millionaire/famous athlete, play tennis or football.
