I was out doing some shopping, timed to get back to see the last third of the ladies' gravel world championship and my wife texted me there was break... Kopecky & Vos. I sent back that they'd better not let that one out of their sight...
I got back a bit later and they had let them out of their sight. LK seemed to be suffering a bit more in the final half an hour so I wasn't too surprised when Vos added a 14th (!) rainbow jersey to her palmares.
Just... wow!

I've seen a stat that PFP actually has more rainbow jerseys than Vos.....but is always overlooked by the road biased media.

It's a fact that MTB is the "little brother" to road, in elite sport terms. If it was the other way around, MTB might be more competitive, and PFP might have won less rainbows but be a little richer!Wipperman_95 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2024, 11:07am I've seen a stat that PFP actually has more rainbow jerseys than Vos.....but is always overlooked by the road biased media.
If you want to be a millionaire/famous athlete, play tennis or football.

As far as I can tell she "only" has 10. Vos' total is arguably quite skewed by her 7 'cross world titles.Wipperman_95 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2024, 11:07am I've seen a stat that PFP actually has more rainbow jerseys than Vos.....but is always overlooked by the road biased media.
I think we can conclude that both of them are rather special riders. Will be interesting to see what PFP does when she's back on the road again next year, teammates with Vos.

The women's pro peloton is now starting to get in to millionaire salaries at the very top end of the sport, though for much of Vos' career it was fairly typical to turn up to races in her parents' campervan. Since PFP is in the "old guard" too I don't think being rich would have been on the agenda, and I don't know for sure but wouldn't be surprised if MTB was actually more lucrative for the women.mattheus wrote: ↑16 Oct 2024, 3:35pm

PFP has 12 rainbows - 5 x XCO, 2 x XCC, 2 x XCM, 1 x Gravel, 1 x Road, 1 x CX
Vos has 14 rainbows - 8 x CX, 3 x Road, 1 x Gravel, 2 x track (scratch & points)
Junior:
PFP 2 x XCO
Vos 1 x CX
Other:
PFP 3 x XC Team Relay (6 riders; M & F Junior, U23 & Elite)
So PFP does have more, but the extra are the team relay events
