Anyone know whats happened to velobase. I cant access it anymore. Its security certificate has expired (whatever that means).
Be a shame to lose a great resource of information

Yikes! I’ve used it tons too. We get so used to accessing these fabulous resources for free sometimes forgetting that there are running costs in time & money… see too dear old Sheldon’s fantastic acres of print on bicycles! Not to mention Vinyl Engine…

I get a security warning when trying to access velobase using firefox browser. You can bypass the warning and accept the risk using the "Advanced" tab to access the site. I do wonder if there is any real risk in doing so, maybe a computer bod can come along and tell us what it means when a security certificate has lapsed in the internet world

Why you get this warning and what you can do about it (this is from Apple, but it's similar for all modern browsers):
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/s ... rw1066/mac
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/s ... 0/mac/15.0
On this occasion I was happy to proceed to the website, but it wouldn't be appropriate to advise anyone else to do that.

On my tablet I just get the message with no option to ignore it and go to the site. I have to go and fire up my pc to access it.

SSL is a bit of a curse. Our former, now sadly deceased, sysadmin added it to YACF and it's caused more outages than anything else* due to certificates not auto-renewing. We think we've fixed it now. It protects login passwords but there's not much else that needs security.
