Trike shed for front garden

Post by belgiangoth »

Blimey, it's been two years!

I last asked this on another part of the forum - I'm after a bike shed that will fit a Catrike 700. No worries about building regs but I would want something secure enough and ideally not crazy expensive. Most options seem to be either too short or taller than needed.
I doubt I would start storing other bikes in there (hallway is fine for bikes we use every day).
If I had a baby elephant, I would put it on a recumbent trike so that it would become invisible.

I guess that depends on your definition of crazy expensive?
One solution comes to mind, a proprietary bike shed from Ansgarth( I think ?), a sort of metal coal bunker with an up & over door.
But my preference would to build a custom made shelter.
Whatever you do, I think you need to realize if ne'er-do-wells want what's inside they will have it, so it's unlikely what ever is built or bought will be secure enough.
Luck!

I had a similar problem with regard to our tandem, and ended up building a shed.

I was able to buy a kit the right size. It's wooden, but strategically reinforced.

You could be sneaky build with wood, and sand which some sheet metal between 2 skins of ply ,which will make it a bit more awkward, even chain link fencing.
As long as it's securely fastened to a ground anchor, the trike that is, it's the best you can do if DIY.

About 5 years ago we had a Christiana trike and that just lived in the front garden under a tarp with a bike chain lock round the front shrubbery (and an additional d-lock ... and a nurse's lock).

Asgard prices are OK, but I expect that it will be either bigger than necessary or too short; there are companies that make bespoke green roof things but for much more money. I fancy the home build but not to the point of learning how to build it (or devoting that much time to it).

If you buy from a company that does kits, you will get all the lumber pre-cut and instructions for building it.

I don't know this company, but this is the sort of thing I mean.
