Two deaths within a week, both just a couple of miles from our house.

Post by roubaixtuesday »

For the first a woman has admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving (before the later death of the victim). Unlicenced and uninsured, failed to stop. I have reliable information that she hit the cyclist from behind, had an 8yo in the car with her, and drove on with a broken windscreen.

The victim was a 62yo woman. RIP.

The second victim was hit by a horsebox, again from behind. I know nothing more than the press report which predates the later death of the victim, a man in his 60s.

RIP.

Little if anything will happen. Both drivers should now be in jail, no buts and no excuses. Death by motor vehicle is a form of murder.
Don’t fret, it’s OK to: ride a simple old bike; ride slowly, walk, rest and admire the view; ride off-road; ride in your raincoat; ride by yourself; ride in the dark; and ride one hundred yards or one hundred miles. Your bike and your choices to suit you.

We have a search for a missing cyclist here, his bike's been found abandoned, but nothing else in four weeks.

That’s pretty dreadful. If the culprit is not there already there is no excuse for him not being in jail immediately. Take the vehicle too.

I may not be up to date with the law, but what relevance does being over 25 have?

Joseph Hedley, from Kirkcaldy, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday charged with “assault to severe injury, impairment and danger to life”. The 37-year-old made no plea during his appearance, was committed for further examination and granted bail.

In the People's Republic of Scotland the SNP believe that if you are under 26 your brain is not fully developed and you are therefore less culpable and get shorter sentences or even no jail time for crimes up to and including rape.
