At the moment, the controversy is characterized as Wallace v some women.
By whom, Greg Wallace? It certainly isn't by most
So where were the employers in all this?
Keeping their heads down, while paying too much to someone who talks for a living. There have been far too many similar incidents over far too many decades for it to be anything other than institutionalised behaviour by those charged with protecting "lesser" mortals

He won't have been an employee, but the answer to the question regarding the production company who contracted him is 'making lots of money' I expect.

I've just read the suggestion that they use the Gerry Adams approach for broadcasting shows that have already been recorded.

(Maybe use the voiceover guy from Eurotrash?)

They will end up binning the unshown shows, and not re-showing old programmes with him in. And in the process the production company and the Beeb will learn the hard way that they have to prune out badly behaving celebrities as early as possible.

That would be like the repair shop episodes with that Jay whateverhisnameis bloke in them. You do not see them on the numerous repeats shown on TV.

But they are lucky there, in that the format makes it possible to edit him out.

I don't think it's tax returns, rather a BBC register of interests https://www.theguardian.com/media/2024/ ... rnings-bbc

I never quite get it why the BBC pay such vast sums of money to a newsreader, £310,000 to read from an autocue, it is hardly a difficult job, it is hardly a job that requires a unique skill - I'm sure plenty could be found for a fraction of that price.

Why some are attacking the BBC over this Wallace chappy I don't know. He's not a BBC employee, they buy the programme he appears on from an independant production company. Must admit I'd never heard of Wallace nor his cookery show until all this started. Is he some sort of modern Fanny Cradock?

He isn't a chef, he's just a critic. He tastes what people have made and makes fussy comments about it. He also presents a programme called Inside the Factory, where he and another presenter watch the production process of a well known product. It is sometimes interesting, but that is in spite of his annoying presenting style. In short, you haven't missed much.

It's slightly more nuanced than that - the BBC commissions the British show from the production company, and buys exclusive rights in the UK, so it's a slightly shorter arm's length, as it were. It's also very clearly identified as a BBC show, not a Banijay one.

People are attacking the BBC because people complained to the BBC about Wallace and they don't feel that the complaints were handled properly, including one letter from a producer detailing many incidents where the reply was that the victims would have to contact the BBC individually, with apparently no attempt made by the BBC to contact the alleged victims.

It also seems that the BBC were not aware of how many complaints had been made and, basically, weren't really checking properly what they were buying with taxpayer money.

If this was one or two complaints made recently only to the production company then the BBC might be able to hide behind the production company, but it seems it's been going on years and complaints were made to the BBC directly so that's not gonna work.

Not anymore he doesn't. He made inappropriate remarks about women in one factory and then he left the programme. Not clear if quit or fired. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-ente ... 48024.html
