Trains for Wick

Post by puffin »

From memory, can anyone tell me how many trains run on a Sunday from Wick in the Summer? The timetable at the moment only shows one.

Yes, normally 4 trains a day from Inverness to Wick, but it looks like only one on a Sunday.

I live and travel on the line to Wick, Scotrail for all information and times, timetable is the same all year round, depending on weather conditions and flooding. Trains are old, very busy in summertime, probably get six bikes to fit on train storage area, two carriage trains maximum, two toilets, you have to take any panniers off before securing your bike to suspension bar, probably only way to squeeze bikes onto securing bar, the ticket collector guards are very kind and obliging and will help you, if like me you will make lots of friends in the hustle and bustle, also coffee trolley.

Yes, when we used the train to Wick, there were 3 of us cyclists and we’d all booked space, but there was a pushchair in one of the bike spaces. We managed to squeeze all 3 bikes onto the remaining suspension bar, that is supposedly only built for 2 bikes.
