Ebike conversion fitting Bristol

Post by Allypally »

Am considering a mid drive from woosh, after discovering that revos in bristol are no more. I can't fit a hub thing as my bike has hub brakes and it would seem a bit butcherous to change them, and I like them. I just need a bit of help up one mother of a hill that I cannot avoid.

I am not confident fitting it myself, nor do I want to buy the necessary tools, and was hoping to pay a bike shop to do the same but now that ebikes are available around the 1k mark nobody seems to do it anymore.

Does anyone know of someone in bristol or bath that does?

Would it be insane to attempt as someone who knows..nothing about bike mechanics?

I may just have to suck it up, do the sensible thing and buy something purpose built but I am still not ready to admit defeat.

I cannot get registered on the pedelecs forum for some reason- the confirmation email never comes through. (Yes I have checked my junk mail.)

I fitted a Tongsheng mid drive to our tandem 3 years ago. Bought from PSW power following advice on this forum. From Germany. Arrived in 3 days after ordering.
Cost was approx £450 all taxes included. Fitting was straightforward and the electrical connections plugged together. The connections only fit one way so you can't go wrong. You remove your chainset and bottom bracket and the mid drive slides in. If you have the rear derailleur cable under the bottom bracket you may need to reroute it.
Ive now done over 10,000 miles. Very pleased with it.
I'm on the Somerset levels near Taunton.

Lots of advice on this forum. Search for Tongsheng.

Yes , that's the brand woosh have recommended.

Did you need a stand to do it?

My chain is enclosed but I guess that can just come off.

Yes, maybe, not massively concerned either way? Don't go off road save for the muddy parts of the cycle path.

This is the same bike : https://endless-sphere.com/sphere/threa ... cle.57290/

I'd try https://www.reallyusefulbikes.com . It's likely that they'll be able to do it.

Have you asked Woosh if they know anyone around your area who could fit one for you?

Shame you can't get on the pedelecs forum. I've posted a question there in case it helps.

Yes I know, it's odd as I recieve other emails fine.

I am barely 5'4' and don't lift her (Matilda, the bike) up anywhere.

I guess you've been able to see the pedelecs posts even if not respond directly.
Very helpful responses, especially (as usual) from saneagle.
If you want to follow up and can't easily contact him, PM me here with telephone or email (don't post them), and I'll forward them to him.

I saw, what a gorgeous man. Unfortunately I can't see me getting to Telford with work and life commitments being as they are. Please pass on my thanks to the pedelecs angel anyway.

Rob has not yet issued a flat 'not on your nelly' so there's hope, but now I don't seem to be able to reply to his email so will have to raise another online form.

Also I mean gorgeous in the sense of his spirit, I obviously have no idea what he looks like.

Rob has declined and I think the idea is dead in the water at this point.

I will just need to save up the 3k or so a good cargo bike costs.
