Cycle Touring Festival 2025 is Virtual
Re: Cycle Touring Festival 2025 is Virtual
Didn't their venue closed, so they've been looking for another?

From Laura's message to the CTF mailing list:
"The bad news is that there WILL NOT be an in-person festival next year. After ten years of organising the festival, Tim and I need a little break from it - especially because this year we're building a house alongside our jobs/children/cycling adventures.
"I know some will be disappointed at this news, but we'll hopefully be back in 2026. We're using the break to have a think about what a revamped festival might look like, and are discussing this with the lovely people at Ghyllside Cycles. Watch this space."
I think that's more than understandable.

Yes, understandable in their circumstances and it's up them what they do
I just thought funny and ironic to have a touring festival online.

Re: Cycle Touring Festival 2025 is Virtual
Ability finances and availability and I am sure there are more than these three things that have stopped me actually attending the festival but since it has been on line I have had the pleasure of watching and listening to presentations from many people who have been on great cycling adventures. As if that wasn't enough I now have a book shelf laden with signed books that describe their journeys in greater detail.
So for me, Laura Tim and all those that have presented have provided me in the colder months with great entertainment. So I would say its been a big success.
For those that haven't watched it tune in tonight and over the week end as there are still some great presentations to take place.
That said I know times are financially tough for a lot of people but if you can afford to please send a donation to them if you can.
They suggest £5 for one session or £20 for the week. The latter is a no brainer for me as its better than actually watching what's on tv.

Well whether you consider it to be ironic or not Simon Laura in closing the festival last night more or less confirmed there will be another one next year. She also added that there also could be another festival we could actually attend but she added it really does take a lot of effort to set up.
I do get your point but being on line people literally from all over the world get to contribute or listen to others talking about their adventures. OK call me stupid but I had never heard of the Inner Hebrides before listening to an excellent talk on them last night. It will of been the best £20 I have spent all year on entertainment and if I had of been tight I could of watched all week for zilch.
There however is a downside ! Once again I am wondering whether I need to abandon my drop bars & fit straight ones

I am a person from "all over the world", and appreciate the link to these talks. (I've now found their Youtube channel ...)hondated wrote: 10 Feb 2025, 11:51am I do get your point but being on line people literally from all over the world get to contribute or listen to others talking about their adventures. Hopefully I'll report back when I've found time to get to the end of one - it's hard to watch 1h talks just in work breaks
