Can't See Profiles etc (in S E Asia)

I've noticed this a number of times when on my cycling trips.

All logged in, CUK member etc.

When I click on a user's name or even mine, I get this:

"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access this resource."

It's a bit annoying but at least I can still access PMs.

I know it works fine when I'm home in the UK and recently used it without logging out from this session.

What's wrong with Thailand, Vietnam etc?

I had to introduce some limited blocking, as a group of servers in the far east were attacking the Forum by requesting user profiles at a very high rate.

My guess is that it was automated scripts looking for usernames to then try with common passwords to try to log into the Forum.

SW Scotland is in the UK, so you should be fine. Unless you're using a VPN with an exit IP address in a non-UK country.

Also getting same message when trying to move pages which after a few attempts then allowed.

Annoyingly that IP address is still located in Spain, according to the Maxmind GeoLite2 database we use.

The country block is only on profile pages, nothing else.

I'm investigating a more reliable (but still free of charge) geoip database. Until then your IP address is in Spain, as far as the server is concerned. Only UK IP addresses are allowed to see user profile pages, as we were getting a LOT of bulk hits on them from around the world.

I've allowed people "in Spain" to view User Profiles now. Does that help?
